Pop sensation Bevlove made a stamp on the city when she released her EP “Letters” in Spring 2018. It’s been a year since she performed her popular songs “Carried Away” and “Lil Better” at El Club and Movement Music Festival and since her album artwork graced the cover of Metro Times.

The colorful pink, purple and orange album art of Bevlove surrounded by balloons and posing in front of a hanging neon name sign was captured by Detroit photographer Damon “Flex Dame” Adams. The two have teamed up again on the singers 2019 music debut. Bevlove dropped a teaser to her new song “Tiffany Skies” on Instagram with a video directed by Flex Dame on July 2.

The vintage film video features Bevlove and friends enjoying their own take on a hot girl summer — eating ice cream, playing arcade games, and shopping.

“I’ve always been about empowering women, I love women,” said Bevlove. “I think that’s what the hot girl summer thing is.”

Dames signature “swaggy” street style visuals over Bev’s mellow tones and sunny lyrics envelope viewers with the same nostalgia you feel when eating cereal and watching Saturday morning cartoons, or hearing the faint music of the ice cream truck on a sunny summer afternoon.

The two both say their creative union was serendipitous. They became friends last year after they noticed the positive reception to  “Letters” EP cover art.

“It was kinda like we need to continuously work and make strides with what we do,” said Dame. “We constantly bounce ideas off of each other.”

For the “Tiffany Skies” visuals, Dame enhanced the songs bouncy tunes by incorporating snapshots similar to the way you would for a stop motion video. The film aesthetic and unchoreographed scenes gave the video a sense of vlog-like reality.

This approach fits right into Dames street documentarian style where he captures his real life friends doing real life stuff that their children and children’s children can look back on in the same way we look at our parents old pictures.

The message of “Tiffany Skies” is also something to cherish. Bevlove opens the song with a message not to be jaded. She says in today’s culture, where it’s cool to be sad and depressed, she wants people to see life in color as she does.

“And the [lyric] Tiffany Skies is for the color Tiffany because you know how people say you have like rose tinted glasses, people always tell me I see the world like that,” said Bevlove. “Like I’m super optimistic. Instead of the sky being blue I think it’s Tiffany Blue like straight diamonds.”

Bevlove says she became more intune with the importance of colors when someone asked her what her favorite color was last year and she couldn’t remember the last time she thought of that.

“I realized that my favorite color is yellow,it just makes you feel good,” said Bevlove. “I relate to colors as a mood enhancer. Instead of seeing life as dark and black and grey if you thought more about yellow and daisies and flowers you’d be a happier person all around.”

Bevlove says she plans to keep the good vibes going throughout the summer and has a few fun surprises coming up for her fans.
